Cue the slow motion cameras: Baywatch is back

It looks like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is heading back to the beach and the gym (as if he ever left) to star in the upcoming remake of the incredibly famous 80’s and 90’s TV series “Baywatch.” The Rock isn’t moving to the small screen, however, because Paramount Pictures has decided to bring it to the big screen for its 25th anniversary.

Not much is known yet about the film’s cast since it’s so early in production, but there are rumors about the team behind the camera. Justin Malen is being rumored to write the screenplay, which would be unusual since he’s so unknown, but he must be good. Another rumor that’s popular is that Sean Anders and John Morris have been tasked to direct the project. If you don’t know who those two are, just know that they’re the comedic geniuses that brought you “We’re the Millers,” “Hot Tub Time Machine,” and “Sex Drive.” Although it’s odd that they’re not attached to write the screenplay at this point since that’s their forte, I’m sure they’ll have a lot of input on the film’s tone.

So although it’s too early to know much about the film, we thought it’d be nice to give you all a heads up about the return of babes on the beach, slow motion running, and overly dramatic lifeguard scenes. Who knows, with a comedic crew running the show maybe we’ll see some quality cracks at the original and maybe some cameos from Hasselhoff and Pam Anderson. The Hoff just has to get on board with the possibility of it being a spoof, so we’ll see.
