The Lowdown

In its first road match of the year, the ISU volleyball team swept the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Friday to claim its fourth victory in a row.

Each set had to be earned by the Cyclones, as the two teams found themselves tied or in a hotly contested battle when they reached the high-teens and low-twenties.

Iowa State was able to pull away late in all three sets, ultimately prevailing 25-20, 25-21, 25-22.

X-Factor

Victoria Hurtt – The senior was an offensive bright spot in a match where some of the Cyclones’ key contributors struggled. Hurtt tallied 11 kills to go with a single error and a hitting percentage of .385.

By the numbers

8 – The Cyclones totaled eight service errors in the match compared to four service aces.

30 & 12 – Sophomore Suzanne Horner tallied a match-high 30 assists and her 12 digs were the third-most in the match

13 – Iowa State racked up 13 blocks in the match, three more than the previous season-high

12 – Dating back to Sept. 4, the Cyclones have won 12 sets in a row and swept four opponents by doing so
