Thursday night game displays rout with broken record

Thursday night football typically showcases one of two types of games. You either see the low scoring battle that is won with solid defense and protecting the football, or you see the sloppy game filled with numerous miscues due to the short week of preparation. That statement proved true in last night’s NFC South matchup between the Atlanta Falcons and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Well, it actually only proved true to one of the teams, and in doing so, they successfully showed America that they all in fact read the ‘For Dummies’ book that teaches football teams to play extremely unprepared. That team was the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Buccaneers made the short trip to the Atlanta hoping to leave with an early divisional victory, but they instead left with many record breaking statistics against them. The Atlanta Falcons scored the second-most points in team history last night and did so without even scoring in the 4th quarter. The Falcons showed no ill effects from the short week after their Week 2 loss. Instead, they jumped out to a 21-0 first-quarter lead while coasting to a 56-14 beat down of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Head coach for Tampa Bay, Lovie Smith, left his post game conference interview stating, “This is a game we will remember for the rest of our lives.”

That statement will probably bode true for wide receiver and kick returner, Devin Hester, as well. Hester eclipsed his 20th career touchdown return, which moved him past the legendary Deion Sanders in the record books.

The Atlanta Falcons will attempt to keep this unbelievable play going next week when they face off against the troubled Minnesota Vikings in Minneapolis, while the Buccaneers hope to move past this blow out and squeeze a W out against the Steelers in Pittsburgh.
