ISU women’s golf senior Sasikarn On-iam was named Big 12 Golfer of the Month for the month of March in an announcement April 3.

The Bangkok, Thailand, native is ranked No. 77 and No. 83 in the Golfweek and Golfstat individual rankings, respectively.

Iowa State only competed in one event in March, the Hurricane Invitational, but in that event On-iam made her mark.

She earned co-medalist honors before losing a sudden-death playoff. The last medalist honor in program history came in 2008.

On-iam recorded rounds of 69, 69 and 73, becoming the third Cyclone to record consecutive rounds in the 60s this season.

In the spring portion of the season, On-iam has finished 20th or higher in all three events and has recorded a 72.00 stroke average, which is the best on the team.

For the 2013-14 season, On-iam’s stroke average of 73.14 also leads the team.

The last Cyclone to win Big 12 Golfer of the Month was current junior Chonlada Chayanun in March 2013.

On-iam and the Cyclones will next compete at the Liz Murphey Invitational in Athens, Ga., on April 4 through April 6.
