Cyclones falls in first game against Sooners

The ISU softball team was optimistic about its first conference game against No. 16 Oklahoma this afternoon.

Today was the first of a three-game series against the Sooners. The game started off with Oklahoma scoring one and leaving Iowa State scoreless.

After three innings the Sooners took the lead 4-0. Nothing was working for the Cyclones up at bat. Oklahoma’s Kady Self hit a homerun leaving the momentum for her team up.

In the fourth inning, Iowa State was still looking for a break through. But the fourth inning belonged to the Sooners. Oklahoma’s Shelby Pandley scored a 3-run homerun for a 7-0 lead.

Sophomore Brittany Gomez tried all she could for her team. She hit 2-for-3 today.

This could not help the Cyclones pull out a win though. They lost 10-0 in their first game. They take the Sooners on for the second game tomorrow at 12 P.M.
