FINAL: Iowa State wins Big 12 Championship, first since 2000

Kansas City, Mo. — For the first time in 14 seasons, Iowa State is cutting nets.

The Cyclones used a second-half push to defeat Baylor at the Sprint Center on March 15, claiming the Big 12 Championship title with a 74-65 win for the first time since the 2000 season. 

Iowa State closed the game on a 15-7 run to claim its second Big 12 title in school history. The Cyclones had five players score in double figures for the second-straight game, led by DeAndre Kane with 17 points. 

After starting the game 0-of-13 from the field, Iowa State shot 23-of-34 from the field for the remainder of the game. In the first half, the ISU trio of Melvin Ejim, Georges Niang and DeAndre Kane shot 3-of-17 but flipped the script in the second half, going 9-of-14 from the field. 

The Cyclones will learn their NCAA seeding fate at 5 p.m. March 16.
