Cyclone Hockey sweeps Lindenwood

With a 3-1 win on Saturday night at the ISU/Ames Ice Arena, the Cyclone Hockey team was able to sweep Lindenwood University in this weekend’s two-game series.

The No. 6 Cyclones (21-5-2, 8-2 CSCHL), who were without the team’s leading scorer and starting goalie, gained ground in their conference when they capped their series sweep against Central Collegiate Hockey League rival No. 14 Lindenwood (6-12-2, 4-4-2 CSCHL) on Saturday.

The Cyclones struck first in Saturday’s game, scoring with a goal by forward Nate Percy halfway through the first period. Percy’s goal was the only shot Lindenwood goalie Linus Ahgren let pass him, as he stopped nine of ten shots on goal in the period.

The Cyclones added to their lead with a goal by forward Trevor Lloyd early in the second period. Later in the period, Lindenwood answered with a goal of its own by forward Stephen Bopp to draw the Lions within one.

With only four seconds left on the clock in the third period, Percy scored again to give the Cyclones a 3-1 victory.

Iowa State will face Dakota Bottineau next Friday and Saturday, Dec. 13 and Dec. 14, at the ISU/Ames Ice Arena.
