The Cyclone Hockey team had no trouble sending Dakota Bottineau back to North Dakota with two losses.

The No. 6 Cyclones (23-5-2, 8-2-0 CSCHL) finished the sweep of the Lumberjacks on Saturday night at the Ames/ISU Ice Arena with a 7-1 win.

Dakota Bottineau scored first in Saturday’s game with a goal by Lumberjacks forward Brett Hebel. The Cyclones responded quickly, though, with a goal by forward Mark Huber only seconds later.

Early in the second period, the Cyclones took the lead when a slap shot by forward Scott Antonsen sailed past Lumberjacks goalie Ryan Miner. Later in the period, a goal by forward Chase Rey gave Iowa State a two-goal advantage.

The Cyclones continued to pile on the goals in the third period, as forwards Chris Cucullu, Trevor Lloyd, Seth Serhienko and J.P. Kascsak put the puck in the back of the net during the period to give Iowa State a 7-1 victory.

Iowa State will take a two-week break but will be back in action on Jan. 3 and Jan. 4 against Robert Morris.
