ISU freshman Ciara Capezio had a big night offensively with 19 kills and a .593 hitting percentage as the No. 25 ISU volleyball team beat South Dakota on Tuesday night.

The Cyclones (15-6, 8-2 Big 12) swept the Coyotes (18-9, 9-2 Summit League) at Hilton Coliseum in a rare, late non-conference match.

Capezio had eight kills right away in the first set and also had four of her five digs. She also had two aces in the match, one in the first set and one in the third.

ISU sophomore Mackenzie Bigbee was right behind Capezio with 13 kills, seven of which came in the third set.

Keeping opponents’ hitting percentage lower has been a point of emphasis this season and the Cyclones held South Dakota to .128. The Coyotes were hitting .000 after the first set.

South Dakota’s Kendall Kritenbrink averages 4.61 kills per set this season but the Cyclones held her to just nine over the course of the whole match on Tuesday.

Jenelle Hudson led the Cyclones in both assists and digs with 41 assists and 17 digs. Kristen Hahn wasn’t far behind as she had 15 digs.

The Cyclones return to conference play at Hilton Coliseum on Saturday. They will be looking for revenge against Oklahoma, who beat them in their last meeting in Norman, Okla.
