ISU volleyball sweeps Kansas State in Big 12 matchup

The ISU volleyball team got its third Big 12 sweep on Wednesday as it beat Kansas State in straight set, 3-0 (26-24, 25-19, 25-18).

After its first Big 12 loss last Saturday, the Cyclones (9-5, 3-1 Big 12) dropped out of the top-25 for the first time in 68 weeks. Iowa State bounced back against Kansas State (13-4, 1-3 Big 12) for only its second home win this season.

In the first set, the Wildcats out-blocked the Cyclones 6-1. In the final two sets, Iowa State led 5.5 to 3 in total team blocks.

Iowa State had four different players with double digit kills during the match. Senior libero Kristen Hahn had 20 digs in three sets while freshman outside hitter Ciara Capezio had 12.

Junior setter Jenelle Hudson and sophomore right side hitter both had 10 digs against the Wildcats

Capezio led the Cyclones in kills with 11. Freshman outside hitter Morgan Kuhrt was not far behind with 10.

Iowa State’s next match up will be against West Virginia on Saturday, Oct. 12.
