ISU women’s golf team finishes third at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational

The ISU women’s golf team opened the 2013 season with a third-place finish at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M., on Saturday.

In the last 18 holes, sophomore Cajsa Persson led the Cyclones by shooting a three-under round of 70, and sharing seventh place with Betty Chen from UC-Davis and Hana Lee from Northwestern. Persson finished with a total score of 218.

Senior Prima Thammaraks shot a one-under round of 72. She placed 10th with a total score of 219. Sasikarn On-iam shot a two-under round of 71 in the last round to tie for 11th place with a total score of 220.

Pepperdine won the event with a team total of 865. Oregon earned second place with 877, which was one shot better than Iowa State, finishing third at 878.

Iowa State will head to Evanston, Ill., on Sept. 30 for the Windy City Collegiate Classic.
