Golf Fore Kids presents opportunity to fund Story County programs

The United Way of Story County (UWSC) is accepting proposals for disbursements of the money raised at this year’s Golf Fore Kids event.

Golf Fore Kids is an annual event held in Ames to benefit children and family programs in Story County. The proceeds from Golf Fore Kids fund programs and initiatives, which impact the lives of Story County kids selected by the UWSC Board of Directors.

Proposals can discuss either the expansion of programs currently funded by UWSC or programs that are not, however proposals for capital expenses will not be considered and funding should not exceed $3,000 per program.

The 14th annual Golf Fore Kids event will be held Friday, Aug. 16 at Ames Golf & Country Club. The deadline to turn in proposals for disbursements is Aug. 12, followed by an announcement no later than Oct. 4 of the programs and initiatives funded.

“There are 144 spots available, and all of them are filled,” Sara Wilson, of UWSC said. “There are 36 teams of four, and each person paid $90 to register.”

With all 144 spots being filled, there is more than $12,000 to give to Story County programs. Donations for raffle prizes and auction items are also welcome.

Proposals forms are now available on the UWSC website, www.uwstory.org. The UWSC Allocations Committee will be the first to review the proposals and will then make a recommendation to the UWSC Board of Directors.

Electronic submissions should be submitted to [email protected].

UWSC is a strategic leader in building countywide partnerships to identify needs and to develop, support and evaluate effective human services for our diverse community.
