Cyclones jump to second at Big 12 Championships

Day two of the Big 12 Championship golf tournament has commenced, and the Cyclones continued to prove that they are tough to beat.

The conditions were ideal and led the No. 28 ISU women’s golf team to make major progress asit jumped to second place with a total, two-round score of 286 — 34 strokes less than Friday’s finish and matching the second best 18-hole score in ISU history.

The Cyclones proved that they were ready to play as each Cyclone fired less than 73 strokes in 18 holes. The team trails No. 23 Baylor by only one stroke.

The ever-consistent senior Punpaka Phuntumabamrung paced the Cyclones with a tally of 68- four under par. Phuntumabamrung totaled six birdies and 10 pars in this round alone and sits in second place individually, only three strokes behind Baylor’s Lauren Taylor (142).

Junior Chonlada Chayanun rallied for 72, 13 strokes than her yesterday’s score and rests in a tie for 26th at 157. Sasikarn On-Iam, Prima Thammaraks and Cajsa Persson all finished with 73 and currently sit in a three-way tie for 15th at 154.

The Cyclones will conclude tournament play beginning Sunday at 8 a.m.
