Cyclone decathlon, heptathlon compete at Cal Multis

The Iowa State Cyclones track and field teams sent several athletes competing in the heptathlon and decathlon events to the Cal Multis on Wednesday. The events are being held at Edwards Stadium in Berkeley, Calif.

Matthew Harmeyer, Taylor Sanderson and Ethan Wilkins are competing for the Cyclones in the men’s decathlon. Jordan Andreasson, Anna Holtermann, Kelly McCoy, Kaci Storm, Hannah Wilms and Bree Woelber are competing for the Cyclones in the women’s heptathlon.

Wilkins finished with the fastest time in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.26 seconds. The Cyclone senior also finished second in the long jump, jumping 23-03.25 feet.

At the end of day one, USC’s Viktor Fajoyomi leads the decathlon, Wilkins and Sanderson hold the third and fourth spots in the competition.

On the women’s side, Andreasson finished second in the 100-meter hurdles, four Cyclones finished in the top six of the event. Woelber finished third, McCoy finished fourth and Storm finished fifth.

Andreasson was joined by another Cyclone atop the podium in the high jump, as Hannah Willms for first with a jump of 5-05.75 feet.

At the end of day one in the heptathlon, Andreasson is in first place, Cyclone athletes Bree Woelber and Kelly McCoy ended the day in fourth and fifth.

Thursday the women will compete in the long jump, javelin throw and the 800-meter run. The men will compete in the 110-meter hurdles, the discus throw, the pole vault, the javelin throw and the 1,500-meter run.
