Cyclones fall in Big 12 opener

Iowa State fell short in its conference opener against No. 36 Baylor on Friday night, losing by a score of 6-1.

The Cyclones (5-7, 0-1 Big 12) lost all three doubles matches without scoring more than two points. Once singles began, the Cyclones were not able to battle back. Baylor won five of the six singles matches in two sets.

The lone victory for the Cyclones was sophomore Ksenia Pronina’s singles win over Baylor’s Megan Horter. Pronina won a close first set by a score of 6-4 before taking the second set 6-2.

The Cyclones return to action Sunday morning to take on No. 27 TCU. The game time has been changed from 11 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.
