ISU women’s track and field competes at NCAA Qualifiers

The ISU women’s track and field team split up to compete in two meets this weekend.

The Cyclones hosted an NCAA Qualifier at the Lied Recreation Athletic Center and another contingent of Cyclones traveled to South Bend, Ind., to compete in the Alex Wilson Invitational.

Ejiro Okoro, Meaghan Nelson, Samantha Bluske and a 4×400-meter relay team competed at the Alex Wilson Invitational.

Okoro finished second in the 800-meter run posting a time of 2:05.54, a time that will qualify her for the NCAA Championships next weekend.

Meaghan Nelson finished third in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 16:09.34 seconds and Samantha Bluske finished 11th.

The Cyclone 4×400-meter relay team made up by Ese Okoro, Krista Shoeman, Donnise Powell and Kendra White finished ninth.

At the NCAA Qualifier in Ames, Lasheima Hampton finished first in the shot put with a throw of 66-00.25 feet, while Kayla Sanborn finished fifth.

Jordan Andreasson tied for third in the high jump, with a jump of 5-03.75 feet. Andreasson also competed in the 60-meter hurdles.

Maddy Becker finished sixth in the mile run with a time of 5:13.61.

Next week the Cyclones will travel to Fayetteville, Ark., for the NCAA Indoor Championships.
