The craziness that is March madness continued for the Cyclones on Saturday as they survived No. 12 seed Gonzaga 72-60 during the first round of the NCAA Women’s Championship.

The Cyclones struggled with giving the ball away during the entire game, committing 21 turnovers overall.

Gonzaga disrupted Iowa State throughout most of the game, forcing point guard Nikki Moody to turn the ball over five different times.

Being the best free-throw shooting team in the nation gave the Cyclones the edge in the end.

Iowa State shot 17-of-18 from the charity stripe in their route against Gonzaga.

Senior Anna Prins sat out a good portion of the second half with four personal fouls, allowing the Bulldogs to find some success under the hoop.

Iowa State will play the winner of the Georgia and Montana matchup.
