Cyclones fall to Florida Gulf Coast

The ISU tennis team completed its weekend in Florida with a 5-2 loss to Florida Gulf Coast in Ft. Myers, Fla., on Sunday.

This loss puts the Cyclones record at 1-3 for the spring season for nonconference matches and Florida Gulf Coast is now 3-1.

Simona Cacciuttolo defeated Sarah Means in No. 1 Singles 3-6, 6-2, 7-5. Cacciuttolo now has a strong record of 3-1 for the spring season after two match victories in singles play this weekend.

Freshman Ana Gasparovic also won in the third set of the match with a score of 7-6, 4-6, 10-6 playing at third singles. This was Gasparovic’s second victory of the weekend as well after clinching the team victory against Stetson on Friday.

In No. 1 Doubles, Senior Jenna Langhorst and Ksenia Pronina won 8-6 to opponents Bechtel and Botha.

Iowa State competes again next weekend against BYU on Friday, Feb. 8 and UNLV on Sunday, Feb. 10.
