The 2013 preseason Bowerman women’s Watch List was released Thursday morning and among the 10 entries is Iowa State’s Betsy Saina.

The Bowerman is track and field’s most honorable individual award an athlete can receive in the sport, according to the official Bowerman website. Among other finalists are last year’s Bowerman winner Kimberlyn Duncan of LSU and Arizona’s Brigetta Barrett, a semifinalist in 2012.

Saina was named to the list for many reasons, according to the Bowerman website. Her most recent success was winning the individual title at the 2012 NCAA Cross-Country Championships.

Saina was also the 5,000-meter champion at the 2012 NCAA Indoor Championships, while finishing third in the 3,000-meter event at the same meet.

Each week the Watch List will be updated. Follow the iowastatedaily.net for more information about Saina and the 2013 track and field season.
