The ISU wrestling team opened its conference slate with a 19-15 loss to Oklahoma on Saturday night in Norman, Okla.

Ryak Finch (125 pounds), Tanner Weatherman (174), Mikey England (184) and Kyven Gadson (197) all picked up wins for the Cyclones (1-3, 0-1 Big 12).

Weatherman and Gadson picked up bonus points for Iowa State. Weatherman notched a 20-10 technical fall of Matt Reed, while Gadson tallied a 10-2 major decision of Brad Johnson.

At 165 pounds, redshirt sophomore Michael Moreno lost a close match to No. 4 Bubby Graham 6-4. The two were tied 4-4 heading into the third period, but an escape with riding time put Graham ahead for good at the final buzzer.

Finch got a win in his first action on the mat since sustaining a concussion in the Cyclones’ Dec. 16 dual win against North Dakota State.

The Cyclones return to action against Rutgers at 6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 11, in Piscataway, N.J.
