It was all Stanford in Berkeley, Calif., on Friday night as it swept the Cyclones 3-0 in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament.

The match was far from the blowouts Stanford had been putting on opponents this season, but it found a way to win when it needed to in three sets (25-16, 25-19, 25-17).

Not a single Cyclone finished with more than seven kills, as Victoria Hurtt lead the team with seven on 36 attacks. Rachel Hockaday and Jamie Straube were close behind with six each in a match where the team hit .140 overall.

Jordan Burgess’ 16 kills and .448 hitting percentage gave Iowa State plenty to handle. Teammates Rachel Williams and Brittany Howard each contributed eight as well.

Iowa State held a lead just three times, all of which came in the second set.

With the loss, the Cyclones graduate Hockaday, Straube, Alison Landwehr and Taylor Knuth.
