For as rough as it started, it didn’t take long for Iowa State to pull away from North Carolina A&T on Tuesday night.

The Cyclones (4-0, 0-0 Big 12) took the lead a few minutes in after a poor shooting start and maintained it for the remainder to stay unbeaten.

Both teams combined to shoot 0-of-14 to start the contest, but a Will Clyburn old-fashined 3-pointer got the Cyclones going offensively. Clyburn finished with 14 points and seven rebounds on the evening.

Prior to halftime, Iowa State put together a 16-0 run from the 6:31 to the 1:37 mark. Tyrus McGee led the team with 16 points off the bench and 4-of-8 shooting from beyond the arc.

As part of the run, the Aggies (1-4, 0-0 MEAC) shot just 5-of-31 in the first half as their shooting woes continued from their 93-39 loss to Cincinnati on Sunday. The Aggies finished 19-of-64 on Tuesday night.

The 3-point shooting continued in the second half, where the Cyclones went 4-of-5 from long-range to start the second half. After going 0-of-10 from deep to start the game, coach Fred Hoiberg’s squad finished 11-of-33 on the night.

The game marks the 30th time during the Hoiberg era that the Cyclones have made more than 10 3-pointers in a game.

Freshman Georges Niang continued to turn heads on Tuesday night as well, recording 14 points and six rebounds. Niang has scored in double-figures in all four games this season.

On the rebounding end, the Cyclones topped the Aggies 53-30. Melvin Ejim led Iowa State in the category with 10 rebounds and contributed eight points.

Next up, Iowa State heads to Las Vegas to face No. 22 Cincinnati on Friday. Game time is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
