The No. 15 Cyclones got their revenge Saturday night against No. 19 Illinois behind a historic performance by freshman Mackenzie Bigbee.

A day after getting swept in straight sets to the defending NCAA Tournament runner-ups, the Cyclones took Saturday’s match to five sets in large part due to the freshman Bigbee.

The Williamsburg, Iowa, native tied the Iowa State freshman record for kills in a match with 25, including the kill that gave Iowa State the 15-10 win in the fifth set.

Victoria Hurtt and Jamie Straube also contributed 13 kills each with Alison Landwehr contributing 59 assists.

The Cyclones now head home to face Northern Iowa Wednesday at Hilton Coliseum. First set is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
