Name: Kyle Pick

Year/Major: Senior in aerospace engineering

Pick, a senior in aerospace engineering, who has always had a passion for planes, will be interning this summer in Long Beach, Calif. with Boeing.

“I will be working on the C-17 Globemaster III doing structural design and analysis,” Pick said.

The C-17 is a large military transport plane used by the Air Force to deliver aid, vehicles, conduct rescue missions and mobile medical operations.

“I got the internship through the career fair. I applied online, got a phone interview and eventually got accepted into their intern program,” Pick said.

After acceptance last November, Pick, along with several other Boeing interns from Iowa State, were flown out to Seattle, Wash. where they met with multiple managers, picked out the projects they wished to work on and got to know the company.

The trip proved successful for Pick as he got his desired project in Long Beach and met his roommates for the summer. He said he is excited for the location and the work he will be doing.

“I will be living in an extended-stay hotel very close to the beach and relatively close to the Boeing facility. I am really excited to finally do real world application to what I’m doing in class, live in California, attend some baseball games and travel around the West Coast a little bit.”
