The ISU softball team was swept by No. 10 Missouri in Ames this past weekend.

The Cyclones (14-33, 2-16 Big 12) were outscored 23-5 in the three games and were shut out in both Friday’s and Saturday’s games.

Friday’s game was a 9-0 victory for the Tigers (37-10, 14-7 Big 12). Lexi Slater and Sara Davison both went 2-for-3 and recorded the only hits for the Iowa State. MU pitchers Chelsea Thomas and Bailey Erwin combined to throw five shutout innings. Nicole Hudson finished the day 2-for-2 with a home run and three RBIs for the Tigers.

Only two Cyclones reached base in Saturday’s 8-0 loss. MU pitcher Kristin Nottelmann allowed just one hit in six innings of work. MU first baseman Kelsea Roth went 1-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs. ISU junior Tori Torrescano recorded the lone hit for the Cyclones.

Torrescano belted a grand slam in Sunday’s game, tying the all-time ISU record of 27 career home runs. She also set an ISU single-season record in RBIs with 43. However, Missouri still managed to pick up the 6-5 victory. Davison went 2-for-4 at the plate and drove in a run of her own.

The Cyclones move on to play Baylor next weekend in Waco, Texas.
