DES MOINES — On the final day of the Drake Relays, the ISU women’s track and field team was still just as busy as it was on the previous days of the relays.

Bringing home a Drake Relays title was first on the list for the women.

Senior sprinter Kianna Elahi brought home the Cyclones’ only Drake Relays title of the weekend. The title came in the women’s 400-meter hurdles, where Elahi ran a 56.78, which was enough to edge out teammate Ese Okoro.

Okoro clocked a personal best to place in a close second with a time of 57.61.

Other runners that competed Saturday in the 400 hurdles were Donnise Powell and Krista Shoeman.

Shoeman was a last-minute entry since an opposing competitor scratched from the event. Shoeman said she was excited to get the chance to race in the fast heat.

The 4×400 relay team sprinted its way into the finals Saturday evening. The squad placed fourth in the finals with a time of 3:38.48.

The next meet the ISU track and field team will compete in is the Big 12 Conference Outdoor Championships on May 11-13 in Manhattan, Kan.
