Friday at 3 p.m., Thielen Student Health Center will be hosting a room dedication ceremony in honor of Dr. Robert K. Patterson.

“Patterson who was one of the key players in getting the health center built in the 90’s,” said Luke Bruck, graduate assistant at Thielen.

“In 1979 Patterson became a staff physician at Iowa State University’s Student Health Center until 1985 when he became the director of the University Occupational Medicine Program and the Student Health Center.  He led the Student Health Center until 1994,” Bruck said.

Patterson is the recipient of many awards and enjoys recognitions from organizations including the American College Health Assosiation.

“It was his efforts that helped create a new, student-supported health center facility on the Iowa State campus,” Bruck said.

The Patterson Memorial Library dedication will be from 3 to 5 p.m. and will feature speakers from Student Affairs and Thielen Student Health Center.
