ISU tennis team falls in Big 12 Championships

The ISU tennis team dropped a 4-2 match to Missouri in the first round of the Big 12 Championships on Thursday.

The Tigers (11-11, 3-7 Big 12) started off the meet by winning the doubles point. The Cyclones (4-19, 1-8) came close but not close enough as the No. 83 doubles team of Jamie Mera and Nina Pantic defeated their team of Maria Fernanda Macedo and Tessa Lang in the No. 1 spot.

For the No. 3 doubles, Missouri’s team of Asleigh Chiaf and Alex Clark defeated Iowa State’s team of Ksenia Pronina and Jenna Langhorst 8-6.

To give Missouri a 2-0 lead, Clark defeated Meghan Cassens 6-3, 6-3.

But Iowa State’s Marie-Christine Chartier defeated Annemijn Koenen 6-4, 7-6 to give the Cyclones one point to make it 2-1.

Missouri quickly made it 3-1 when Rachel Stuhlmann defeated Pronina 6-3, 6-3.

Langhorst kept the Cyclones hopes alive by defeating Mera in the No. 5 spot 6-3, 1-6, 6-1 to make the score 3-2 in Missouri’s favor.

In the No. 1 spot. Macedo was defeated by Pantic 1-6, 7-6, 6-4 to give the Tigers the win and end the Cyclones’ season.
