The ISU softball team competed this past weekend against Missouri State, splitting a pair of games.

The Cyclones (7-12, 0-0 Big 12) were scheduled to play three games against the Bears (9-5, 0-0 MVC), but the final game was canceled due to inclement weather.

Iowa State was defeated on day one of competition, losing 4-0. The loss marked the sixth time this season the Cyclones have been shut out. Junior Tori Torrescano pitched for the Cyclones, pitching 5.1 innings while giving up six hits and three runs.

Day two began looking similar to the previous day. After three innings, the Cyclones trailed 3-0.

But in the top of the fourth, Iowa State was able to drive in three runs off three hits to pull even. A double by Amandine Habben added another run for the Cyclones before back-to-back doubles by Lexi Slater and Erica Miller in the sixth gave Iowa State the 6-3 lead.

Freshmen pitcher Miranda Kemp (1-2) picked up her first victory in her collegian career, pitching 5.1 innings while giving up three hits and four runs.

Torrescano came into the game in relief and pitched 1.2 innings, giving up two hits, picking up her second save of the season and sealing a 6-4 victory for the Cyclones.

Iowa State will be back in action on Wednesday with a doubleheader at Loyola-Marymount. Action for game one is set to begin at 1 p.m.
