Cyclones fall 5-2 to No. 41 Oklahoma State

The ISU tennis team lost to No. 41 Oklahoma State 5-2 on Saturday in Stillwater, Okla.

With the loss, the Cyclones record falls to 3-14 and 0-4 in Big 12 play.

Iowa State started doubles play with two of the three matches being within two games, both 8-6 losses. But the Cyclones couldn’t get closer than that and were swept for the second time in as many matches.

The Cowgirls (10-3, 4-1) led off singles play with a victory by No. 114 C.C. Sardinha against ISU senior Maria Fernanda Macedo.

In the No. 2 spot, ISU freshman Ksenia Pronina lost 6-2, 6-2.

ISU sophomore Simona Cacciuttolo came close to getting a win after winning the first game 7-5, but Cacciuttolo lost the next two 7-5, 1-0 (11-9).

Freshman Meghan Cassens earned the Cyclones’ first victory in the No. 4 spot. Cassens lost the first game 7-5 but won the second 2-0 and the match after OSU’s Kanyapat Narattana retired.

Jenna Langhorst lost in the No. 5 spot 6-2, 6-4. In the No. 6 spot ISU senior Marie-Christine Chartier defeated Isabela Miro 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-6).

The Cyclones are off until April 7 when they play at home against Missouri.
