The ISU divers wrapped up the final day of competition at the Zone “D” Diving Championships in Iowa City on Saturday. Senior diver Sarah Nelson and sophomore Jessica Henderson concluded their seasons for the Cyclones, as neither was able to qualify for the NCAA Championships.

On the final day of competition, Nelson scored posted a five-dive score of 219.60, earning her a 16th-place finish, missing the cut of 12th place to head to nationals.

The day began well for Nelson who, after three dives, sat in 10th place. But in her fourth dive, Nelson scored a lowly 30.0 to drop her back into the pack before finishing strong on her final dive scoring a solid 45.0.

But Nelson’s fourth dive would prove a costly, as she finished just 10 points shy of the 12th and final diver to qualify for the NCAA Championships.

The finish marks the end of Nelson’s career at Iowa State. She leaves Iowa State ranked third in school history on platform, fifth on 1-meter and ninth on 3-meter.
