Huxley woman pleads not guilty to first-degree murder charges

Jennifer Burkle, 22, of Huxley, has pleaded not guilty to two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of her twin newborn daughters.

Burkle is being held in the Story County Justice Center on $1 million bail. The charge is a class A felony that is punishable to life in prison if convicted.

The Nevada Police Department said Burkle told them she killed the twin girls around 7:30 a.m. Jan. 13. She was arrested Jan. 17.
