The ISU Soccer Team got back on the winning track on Sunday in Cape Girardeau, Mo., beating the Redhawks 2-0 for their first win since Sept. 18.

Sophomore goal keeper Maddie Jobe and the Cyclone defense played a shutout first half, and senior co-captain Mary Kate McLaughlin headed a corner kick from Emily Goldstein into the net for a score eight minutes into the second half.

Sophomore Goldstein was back on the scoring action again in the final minutes of the match as well and fired a shot over Redhawk keeper Ashton Aubuchon’s hands to increase the lead to 2-0 and seal the victory.

The win was the second for the Cyclones against Southeast Missouri State this season, after a preseason game ended with a 5-0 ISU victory.

Iowa State improves to 7-8-1 after the win, and the Redhawks drop to 10-4-1, and the Cyclones will finish out their season against Texas Tech and Kansas beginning Oct. 21 and then Missouri on Oct. 28.
