The ISU soccer team improved to 4-3-1 on Sunday afternoon at the ISU Soccer Complex after a 4-0 rout of Loyola-Chicago.

Senior captain Mary Kate McLaughlin put the Cyclones on the board in the 27th minute on a header for her first goal of the season, and the scoring escalated from there.

Less than six minutes later, freshman forward Kaeli Flaska scored off a pass from senior forward Amanda Cacciatore for her first goal of the season as well, but she wasn’t done yet.

Nearly the same play occurred less than four minutes later and Flaska found the back of the net for her second goal of the game and Cacciatore was awarded the assist again.

In the 59th minute, Flaska sealed the 4-0 shutout and her hat trick with a goal off a rebounded ball.

Freshman goalkeeper Andrea Swanson played the full 90 minutes for Iowa State and recorded her first career shutout.

The Cyclones continue their nonconference matches at 6:30 p.m. Friday against South Dakota State at the ISU Soccer Complex and then head to Ohio to take on Toledo on Sunday afternoon.
