Iowa State falls 2-0 to Georgia to finish weekend at Minnesota GOLD Classic

After a Friday night loss to No. 22 Milwaukee, Iowa State suffered another defeat this time at the hands of the Georgia Bulldogs on Sunday morning at the Minnesota GOLD Classic.

The Cyclones (3-2-1) equaled the Bulldogs (3-2-0) in shots with 10 but couldn’t not contain Georgia’s fast start as Georgia scored its’ first goal after 17:03 minutes of play. Georgia then sealed the win by scoring its’ second goal with 8:29 remaining in the contest bring the final of 2-0.

ISU freshman goalkeeper Andrea Swanson got the start over sophomore Maddie Jobe and played the full 90 minutes in the goal for the Cyclones. Swanson recorded two saves and was given the loss.

Iowa State’s next contest is against in-state rival Iowa on Friday at 7 p.m. in Iowa City. The game will be a part of the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series.
