The ISU soccer team beat Northern Illinois 2-0 on Sunday afternoon at the Cyclone Soccer Complex for its second win of the weekend.

Sophomore forward Jennifer Dominguez and freshman defender Ashley Johnson scored their first goals of the season in the shutout.

Just 10 minutes into the game, sophomore midfielder Emily Goldstein crossed the ball in front of the net and as the ball rebounded out off NIU goalkeeper Amy Carr, Dominguez rushed in for the sliding score to put the Cyclones up 1-0.

Later in the first half, Johnson took a shot from 25 yards out with the ball finding the top-left corner of the net to give Iowa State the 2-0 lead.

The Cyclone defense held its ground to complete the shutout, with sophomore goalkeeper Maddie Jobe notching four saves as well.

The win puts the Cyclones at 2-0 with the team traveling to Wisconsin for a pair of matches against Green Bay and Washington next weekend.
