ISU faculty and staff Q-and-A — Anastasia Prokos

Katherine Klingseis

Name: My full name is Anastasia Prokos, and I go by “Dr. Prokos” or “Professor Prokos” to undergraduate students.

Official title at Iowa State: Associate professor of sociology and women’s studies

As a student, what was your favorite part about your first year in college?: My favorite part of my first year of college was meeting new people.

As a student, what were some challenges you faced in your first year in college?: One of the biggest challenges I faced was learning how to deal with the large bureaucracy. (I also went to a large state school.)

What is some advice you would offer new ISU students?: My advice to new students is to remember that you are in charge of your own education. Take responsibility for it, and find help when you need it. Don’t be afraid to ask professors, TAs and other students for advice and help.
