The 101-66 final score was nothing unusual for the United States in the World University Games.

ISU coach Bill Fennelly’s squad outscored their opponents by an average of 45 points on the way to a gold medal.

The team went 6-0, with victories over Brazil, Slovakia, Great Britian, Finland and Australia to reach the final. Its semifinal contest against Australia was the closest game, with a final score of 79-67.

Team USA finished the tournament with a victory over Taiwan in the final on Sunday.

Nnemkadi Ogwumike of Stanford led the way for the U.S. in the final with 24 points. Notre Dame’s Skylar Diggins contributed 19 points in the victory.

The only Big 12 player on the roster was point guard Odyssey Sims out of Baylor. She was voted Big 12 Freshman of the Year for the 2011 season.

With the victory, Fennelly captured his fourth gold medal with USA Basketball, his first three coming as an assistant coach.
