The Iowa State men’s golf team wrapped up first-round play at the Louisville regional Monday afternoon.

The Cyclones ended the first round in seventh place, two back of a spot to head to NCAA Championship play.

Tripp Kinney ended his first round sitting in the top-10.

Kinney shot -2 (69) for the first round, good enough to put him in eighth place individually.

Lachlan Barker and Ricky Costello made the top-20 after round one, with both Cyclones sitting T16.

Barker and Costello both shot even (71) for the first round.

The Cyclones struggled shooting birdies though they had been a strong point in tournaments during the regular season.

Iowa State ended round one with the fewest amount of birdies of all the teams, with 11 birdies in total.

The rest of the scores are as follows:

Sam Vincent: T61; shot +6 (77)

Frank Lindwall: T67; shot +7 (78)

The Cyclones will be back on the course tomorrow to begin round two.
