Another round of website updates go live

Brian Smith

More updates hit iowastatedaily.net today. This summer will be a constant building process for the website, with a completely refreshed look completed before the school year begins.

Our last update looked to improve navigation, so this update is focusing more on aesthetics and usability.

The most noticeable change is the featured stories box at the top of the page. We condensed this box down into two columns to allow us to move up the advertisements and direct links in the far right column. The box now displays one less story, but we think the more compact display will make it more user friendly.

In the articles themselves we are testing out using a serif font for the body copy. We’re really interested in what people think about this switch, so if you’ve got an opinion be sure to send it our way.

We also started offering deals from Groupon on the website. Groupon sells all of the deals, but we’re able to make them highlight them to you on our website. Head over to www.iowastatedaily.net/dailydeals/groupon to check it out.

We expect to release another wave of changes to the homepage early next week.

Please send us any feedback you have. We want to make the site the best we can, and your opinions are an important part of that. Let us know if there is change you love, one you hate, something you wish would be changed or a new service you would like to see us offer.
