The biggest losers

Darrin Cline

Anyone who has gone through the rigor and routine of wrestling understands that one of the sport’s biggest challenges is making weight.

It is those final four-tenths of a pound that refuse to come off just hours before the meet. A quick ride on the bike, a set of wind sprints, or an excessive number of trips to the bathroom, all in an effort to stay under that magical number.

Wrestlers do everything in their power to cut or maintain weight in a healthy fashion during the season, but what about those long months when they aren’t in competition?

The weight loss process is an unparalleled challenge that combat athletes face. For the members of the Cyclone wrestling program, weight control and conditioning characterizes their summer.
