The Big 12 Conference named ISU senior golfer Victoria Stefansen Golfer of the Month for February. It is the third time Stefansen has received the honor from the Big 12.

Stefansen is originally from Roervig, Denmark, and after redshirting her freshman season she has been a strong contributor to the team every year.

She’s proved this season that she was saving her best golf for last. She already has four top-10 finishes individually this season, including two in February. Throughout her career she has placed in the top 10 12 times.

Stefansen posted her best 18-round score ever, a 69, earlier in February at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic. It was the Cyclones’ spring opener where Stefansen and the team gave the No. 1 Alabama a close race for first, finishing second in the end by five strokes.

Stefansen’s play and senior leadership have played a major role in the team’s success this season. The Cyclones jumped from the No. 16 to No. 11 earlier in February. Stefansen’s stroke average of 74.57 is fourth on the team.

Stefansen and the team are back in action Sunday and Monday for the SunTrust Gator Invitational.
