Fitness Challenge: Kari Dockum, week #4

Kari Dockum

It’s time to do something drastic.

Through this fourth week, it’s safe to say I’ve pretty much failed at this fitness challenge, so I need to try something different.

I was thinking about strange diets, random gimmicks, anything that might produce some results and kickstart my motivation to achieve my goals.

I came up with the Special K Challenge. It promises a 6-pound weight loss in just two weeks, as long as you eat Special K products for two of your daily meals.

I love cereal, so I don’t have a problem with eating it twice a day. The problem lies with that third meal — if it’s high in calories and/or fat, I’ll ruin the calorie-saving work I did that day. If that’s all I have to worry about, though, I’m hoping I can manage.

Before you tell me this plan is crazy, dangerous or just plain stupid, at least I’m not trying the Master Cleanse. The Special K Challenge looks pretty reasonable compared to the lemon juice-maple syrup-cayenne pepper concoction this detox plan calls for.

I know the Special K Challenge is a short-term fix, designed to produce quick results. But that’s just what I want — something to make me remember how good it feels to achieve something.
