Fitness Challenge: Sarah Clark #5

Sarah Clark

Week #5:

It has been an extremely disappointing week.

Last Tuesday, I ran farther than I have ever run, 6 miles. I was feeling really good about it until I got home and was feeling a small amount of pain on the outside of my right foot. The pain progressed throughout the day and by that night, it was difficult to walk on it.

The next morning, the pain was still there but I decided to tough it out through class. It was extremely difficult getting around campus and my foot was absolutely killing me.

I finally gave in and made an appointment at the student health center. At my appointment, I was informed that I had most likely strained or fractured a bone in my foot. Apparently this sort of injury is common in runners. I left the student health center with a walking boot cast and crutches.

Needless to say, I have been slightly immobile for the past week. It is absolutely killing me. I feel like everything I have worked so hard for is going down the drain. I have only been able to do ab workouts and I’m afraid that by the time I do get to start running again, my endurance will be so drained that I will have to start all over completely.

Not to mention the fact that, being on the Dance Team, I will be traveling to the Big 12 Tournament for Basketball the second week of March. This means that my foot must be healed and ready to go! It’s been an extremely frustrating and depressing week and I’m afraid I am getting in a slump.

I really need some motivation and some super healing powers to help my foot get better.

I have an appointment set up for next Tuesday so hopefully by that time, I will have some good news.

Until then, wish me luck.

Stay Strong!
