A scheduled hockey contest between the Cyclones and the Iowa Hawkeyes has been canceled because of the imminent bad weather and icy road conditions. The game was slated to take place at 95 KGGO Arena at 8 p.m. Saturday in Des Moines.

“With the icy roads and weather getting worse, Iowa was worried about gettng home after the game,” said coach Al Murdoch. “Even though I’m from Canada and enjoy hockey in the winter, I can’t have control over that.”

The break gives both teams extra time to prepare for upcoming finals. Iowa State defeated Iowa 10-1 on Friday night at the Ames/ISU Ice Arena, with Matt Cohn scoring three times for the Cyclones. After Winter Break, Iowa State will travel to Robert Morris University in January.

A rescheduling for the game has not been made at this time.
