Ames can expect up to two inches of rain Friday.

Miles Schumacher, meteorologist for the National Weather Service, said a round of thunderstorms is predicted to hit Ames on Friday afternoon and evening.

“The bulk of it will hit after noon,” Schumacher said. “Residents should prepare for one to two inches of rain, and in some isolated areas we may get three or four [inches].”

Ames should get relief from wet weather in the upcoming days, Schumacher said.

“The weekend should be drier,” he said. “Hopefully Ames will catch a break from the heavy rains.”
