After stranding nine runners on base during Tuesday’s loss, the Cyclones’ offensive woes worsened as they left 11 on base and lost 5-2 to Drake on Thursday

With the loss, the Cyclones split the season series with Drake and also drop their fourth straight game.

During this four-game losing streak, the Cyclones have now stranded 29 runners and have lost three of the four games by two runs or less.

This is now the second time Iowa State has lost four straight this season.

And with upcoming conference games against teams such as Oklahoma State and Texas, the schedule does not look to get any easier.

Freshman pitcher Tori Torrescano was roughed up four runs in just two-thirds of an inning’s worth of work against the Bulldogs.

Iowa State’s bullpen did hold the Bulldogs to just one more run, but the four runs would be all Drake would need against the Cyclones.

Drake’s junior pitcher Jenna DeLong went all seven innings, allowing just two runs on eight hits while striking out seven.

Iowa State’s two, three and four hitters combined to go 0-10 with three strikeouts, while freshman infielder Erica Miller and sophomore outfielder Heidi Kidwell each had multi-hit days for the Cyclones.

However, neither Kidwell nor Miller were able to come around to score.

Next up for the Cyclones is a two-game weekend series against the Oklahoma State Cowgirls, who are ranked 12th in the nation and are currently in first place in the Big 12.
