Shane Lucas –

The ISU wrestling team finished in third place, with 75 points, at the NCAA Wrestling Championships in Omaha, Neb., on Saturday.

Seniors Jake Varner and David Zabriskie ended their collegiate careers with individual championships. Varner defeated Nebraska’s Craig Brester, and Zabriskie took down Oklahoma State’s Jared Rosholt for the seventh time in his career.

Andrew Long lost another tight match against Iowa rival Matt McDonough to start the night’s action.

After Long’s loss, the Cyclones fell beneath Wisconsin and Oklahoma State in the overall standings. However, Varner and Zabriskie’s wins propelled them back to third place, behind Iowa and Cornell.
