The Smashing Pumpkins, Buddy Guy, Rob Riggle, Wilco and The Replacements are only a few of the great names to have graced the small stage across the street from Lake LaVerne and a floor below Panda Express.

The Maintenance Shop has been described as the place to see an act on either its rise to fame or its fall from the top.

The M-Shop celebrated 35 years by going back to its roots and holding a free jazz show Dec. 3, serving free cake and giving out door prizes to current students, Ames residents and patrons of years’ past.

The spring semester of 2010 will continue providing students an on-campus spot for entertainment, with scheduled spots for local favorite The Envy Corps and Howie Day, best known for “Collide,” on Jan. 27, as well as open mic nights and the comedy of Grandma Mojo’s Moonshine Revival.
