Iowa State picked up a dominating and important win on Friday night at the Ames/ISU Ice Arena after beating No. 21 Robert Morris University 7-1.

Iowa State got the scoring started early with a David Kurbatsky goal a minute and a half into the game off of a power play. Mike Lebler added another goal later in the period to make the score 2-0 at the end of the first period.

Once again in the second period, the Cyclones scored a quick goal when Brad Krueger found the back of the net. Robert Morris finally got on the scoreboard halfway through the second bringing the score 3-1. Iowa State would score two quick goals to send them to the third period with a 5-1 lead.

In the third, Robert Morris stated to lose its temper. With seven and a half minutes to play in the game, one Robert Morris player attempted to fight with Brody Toigo. The player was escorted off the ice by a referee. The Cyclones added two goals on the power play to close out the game with a victory.
